Synopsis: Port of Alicante, March 28, 1939. The Captain of the Stanbrook, Archibald Dickson and his crew await the arrival of a shipment. From their ship, they witness the last days of the Spanish Civil War and chaos takes over the city. Thousands of people gather in the port waiting for the arrival of ships chartered by the Republic that will take them into exile. One of them is Joan, who after losing his wife at the front, goes to the port with María, his eight-year-old daughter. But the ships don’t arrive. From the Stanbrook, Captain Dickson will assume responsibility for embarking and evacuating almost three thousand people condemned to suffer Franco’s relentless repression.
